The importance of the API economy in the context of software development has been increasing rapidly for some time – with 2017 being dubbed as the ‘Year Of The API Economy’. It can be safely said that we have entered the second major digital revolution (the first, of course, being the arrival of the World Wide Web in 1995), with APIs changing the faces of businesses and driving the growth of IoT applications in particular.
